Be a Responsible Pet Owner - Spay & Neuter Your Pets

IMPORTANT NOTICE - DUE TO A HIGH VOLUME OF TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) REQUESTS THAT WE CURRENTLY ARE WORKING ON, WE ARE NOT ACCEPTING ANY NEW TNR REQUESTS AT THIS TIME.  WE WILL UPDATE OUR WEBSITE ONCE WE ARE ABLE TO ACCEPT NEW REQUESTS. THANK YOU.

Operation Hood is a TNR (trap-neuter-return) non profit organization. TNR is a humane approach to addressing community cat populations.  TNR improves the lives of cats and addresses community concerns about overpopulation and stops the breeding cycle. Most importantly, TNR improves the co-existence between outdoor cats and humans in our shared environment.

We do not relocate cats and do not have the capability to take additional cats or kittens.

We are reveiving numerous requests each week asking for assistance and are currently working on a backlog of requests.  If you need assistance with TNR we ask that you submit a TNR Request form so we will know best how to proceed. The form describes the process of coordinating a TNR Plan that includes ways you can help. There are many areas that assistance is needed when coordinating a TNR project. Together we can make a difference.

  • Trapping - individuals who feed have a pattern/routine of care that the cat(s) trust which is most helpful when trapping. We loan traps and will show you how to use the equipment to safely trap a community cat.  We will work with you to get the cat scheduled for a TNR appointment.  The cat will be spayed/neutered, receive a 1-year rabies vaccine and their left ear will be "ear tipped" to help identify them as having been TNR'd once they are released back where they were trapped.
  • Transporting for TNR appointment.
  • Recovery after surgery - a safe, quiet space that is climate controlled giving the cat food and water daily and time to recover from surgery. We have divider forks that are used when caring for cats that provide a "barrier" between you and the cat so they can be fed and cared for daily while recovering.

Please submit TNR request and be part of the plan to make a difference in the lives of community cats.

WISHLIST LINKS
Operation Hood  appreciates the support and generosity of our followers. We are thankful to be part of such an amazing community that enables us to help community cats. This video shows one of our kitties Toretto who lives at "The Fence" a safe haven created for the kitties who were relocated from Hood Drive in 2016. Toretto is a ham when it comes to attention. He loves to follow us around as we care for the kitty's daily just to watch and be part of the teamwork! During the summer he can be found playing in the water bowls or chasing a stream of water from a bowl that has been overfilled! Silly Toretto we sure do love you and your friends! Check out our Wishlist link below if you would like to donate! Thank you!

One of our trappers got this little one while working on a TNR Project. Sadly, this is the case for many kittens born in the wild due to female cats that are left un-spayed. It is not the best life for kittens who come into the world defenseless and are left to deal with the elements of the weather, etc.  Your support enables us to save lives like this little one! Thank you for your support and kindness and joining us on this amazing journey in making a difference in the lives of community cats! #communitycatsFXBG

WHO WE ARE

Operation Hood is a non-profit all volunteer organization that works with the community to help control the overpopulation of community cats through our TNR program.  We depend on community support for funding to assist with the TNR costs and veterinary care of the cats who were previously rescued from Hood Drive, and currently reside within a safe haven area we refer to as “The Fence."

With on going efforts to assist the community with TNR we appreciate any and ALL help given working on TNR efforts that impact and make a difference not only in the lives of the cats but also in our community.  Working together we can help control the over population and needless litters of kittens born outdoors that face uncertainties that outdoor life may bring. These are just a few videos of releases from TNR projects that individuals  just like you have taken a part in!  Together we can do more and make an impact!
Join us on our journey to help make a difference in the lives of community cats!

Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) is only method proven to be humane and effective at controlling community cat population growth.

THE CATS WE HELP

community ∙ the "Fence" safe haven ∙ risk of euthanasia

Operation Hood receives an influx of requests for various TNR (Trap, Neuter, RETURN) projects. We receive requests that ask us to remove cats from an area and relocate them, or if we can take them in at the Fence.

The Fence is occupied by cats that were rescued from Hood Drive and is at capacity.  Therefore, we are not able to take in cats. We are aware there are circumstances in which a cat cannot be returned to the area it was trapped due to various reasons. We are able to assist with trapping of cats, having them spayed/neutered (as  funding allows) and then RETURN them to the location they were trapped where a caretaker will resume with providing shelter, water and food daily.
