How can you help?
Become a foster for a shelter/rescue that does adoptions!
What is a Foster Home?
Operation Hood is a TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) non profit organization. We do not take in cats but we do network with local organizations and we encourage you to sign up to foster! When you sign up to foster for a shelter or rescue that does adoptons you are saving lives and enabling more spots for animals in need to find forever homes!
A foster home is a temporary living situation for cats in in need while they are awaiting placement in a permanent home. Foster families provide a safe space in their homes to love and care for the pet until it can be placed in a forever home OR taken in to the SPCA/Shelter. You provided the space and love and the organization you are fostering for supplies what is needed to care for the animal(s).

Why Foster?
Often while doing TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) we come across TNR Projects that will have kittens and or friendly cats that the indivdual inquiring TNR assistance will ask if the cats/kittens can be taken to be adopted. Our organization does TNR and we do not have the means to take in OR relocate cats or kittens. We strongly enourage indivduals that inquire about TNR and want kittens and or friendly cats adopted to please sign up to foster at local shelters/SPCA and rescue organizations who do adoptions. Our role is to promote and do TNR to help prevent future litters of abandoned and helpless community cats from reproducing. Together we can make a difference.
How Long Should I Expect to Foster a Cat?
The length of time a cats spends in foster care varies. Each organization/shelter has policys that they will discuss once you sign up to foster. The Shelter/SPCA intake will depend on space and their may be a waiting list so please be patient and ask when you inquire to foster about this.
Local rescue groups that do adoption events and post on social media use these outlets to get the word out to the community to help get animals adopted. Rescues depend on fosters to care for animals temperarly until a forever family is found.
Some cats need more time because of age, illness, injury, or behavior issues. Others simply need to stay in foster care for a couple days. Rescues/Shelters will have foster coordinators that will discuss responsibilites and discuss what is needed.
